Dr Parul Prabhat is originally from New Delhi India, where she completed her BSc (Honours) in Microbiology from University of Delhi. She then moved to the UK, where she completed her MSc in Applied Biomolecular Technology from University of Nottingham. As a fresh graduate she joined Solexa/Illumina in Cambridge, before undertaking a PhD at Imperial College London and subsequently a post-doc at University of Cambridge. 

After having her son, she moved back to biotech at Cambridge Epigenetix, where she worked on developing and manufacturing test kits for cancer diagnostics, specifically studying DNA modifications. She is now back at Illumina as Technical Operations Manager of Illumina Lab Services (ILS). ILS is the primary provider of whole genome sequencing for the population genetics for Genomics England and clinical service for NHS-England.

She lives in Cambridge with her husband and two kids. She loves entertaining friends and family at home, enjoys cooking, reading, watching movies and shopping in her spare time. She loves dancing and spreading the joy of dancing to Bollywood songs.
